Malaysia is Now an ICC Member BERNAMA, 8 December 2003

Malaysia is now a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), says pro-tem chairman of ICC Malaysia, Datuk Mustafa Mansur.

ICC"s goal is principally to promote international trade, he said her Monday.

Mustafa, who is also the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) president, said Malaysia was admitted to the world business organisaion on December 5 with three other countries - El Salvador, Panama and United Arab Emirates.

To date, ICC's national committees are spread across 88 countries, including five ASEAN countries - Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The FMM would be the secretariat for ICC Malaysia. Its pro-tem executive board was elected in June 2003. It currently has 11 members and plans to recruit more.


ICC Malaysia, which also represents Malaysian business interests overseas, welcomes all companies involved in international business activities to join as corporate member.

ICC services, which are essential to international business, include the ICC International Court of Arbitration, ICC Commercial Crime Services and ICC Publications.
